The farm was established in 1801. Our farm has 600 acres
in production.
Farm History:
Our farm was started in 1801 when Fritz Mesick was granted
a Stephen Van Rensselaer land grant agreement- payment
being bushels of grain, fat hens and work (a man and his
team of horses) for the manor. That was 10 generations
ago for my grandson who hoped to continue farming after
college.

Presently, my son Dave, and I work the farm with extra
help throughout the year. Dave's son Sam helps out after
school and during vacations. My father started dairying
in the early 1930's. I started milking the cows when I
was in grade school.
In the early '70's, our daughter Diane and I thought
it would be great to have a buffalo or two on our dairy
farm. We wanted to do our part in helping bring back this
majestic animal that used to roam so freely and abundantly.
We purchased 3 buffalo (bison) and during the next 10
years, we purchased additional breeding stock from as
far away as Nebraska. In the early '90's we started to
sell all cuts of frozen bison meat from our porch freezers.
We now have a small store that we sell our meat and bison
related materials right here on the farm. A few years
ago we set up a website and take orders over the Internet
as well.
Many of our customers are trying and buying bison meat
because it is lower in fat and cholesterol than beef,
turkey, chicken and fish. Others buy it simply because
it just tastes great, and when cooked properly, bison
is incredibly tender.
All of our customers appreciate the fact that we do not
use antibiotics or growth hormones to raise our buffalo.
